Time is up for convicted sex offender evacuees to register with authorities here.
State law requires that sex offenders register within ten days of setting up either temporary or permanent residence here.
Registration can be done at the Lauderdale County Courthouse annex.
Sex offender ID cards will be issued as proof of registration.
"Anyone who moves to any county within the state of Mississippi and sets up residence, whether it’s temporary or permanent residence, and is a convicted sex offender is required to register," said Edna Clark of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department.
Sex offenders must also re-register every 90 days. Failure to register will result in arrest and up to five years jail time.
