Hartley Peavey of Meridian, founder of Peavey Electronics will be among the first inductees to the Mississippi Technology Alliance's Innovators Hall of Fame. Peavey started the company by himself in 1965 in Meridian.

Peavey Electronics has its equipment in the Sydney Opera House, Great Hall of the People in China, U.S. Congress and the world's largest theme parks, casinos and arenas.

"Early in my career as a manufacturer, I discovered that in order to be better, by definition I had to be different," said Peavey in a company news release. "That realization, combined with a lot of hard work by many folks here in
Mississippi, has helped lead this company in directions I never dreamed we
would go. I am excited to receive this honor in my home state."

The induction ceremony for the honorees will be May 13 at the TelCom Center in Jackson.
