A Wayne County family is crying out for help to solve a two-month-old murder investigation.
The family of 56-year-old Janie Broadway Williams says it needs answers on who shot and killed their mother, a well-respected woman in the community.
Authorities say Williams was shot in the chest Mar. 6, 2008, shortly after midnight while standing at her kitchen window inside her home on Red Brown Drive in Wayne County, near the Clara community. Investigators say a high- powered rifle was used to fire the fatal shot.
Williams was the owner of the High Noon Bar in Waynesboro.
Wayne County authorities say they interviewed over sixty people and still don't have a suspect.
"We believe this was a planned and very calculated event," said Wayne County investigator Kevin Stevens. "We don't have enough evidence to take us to an arrest at this point. This is a case where, if we discover a why, we'll find the who. This is an open investigation. We are not focused on a specific person; it's an open investigation."
Crimestoppers is offering a $2,000 cash reward for any tips leading to an arrest in the case.
Tips may be phoned in to the Mississippi Crimestoppers hotline at 1-888-827-4637 or 601-582-7867.
