Sixteen-year-old Tanner Moody has received a lot of accolades in his young life. He plays soccer and runs cross-country for Clarkdale High School. But the most memorable event to date for him was the tornado of 1992.
Tanner is "the tornado baby", "the Timex baby", and even "the miracle baby".
His family's home was destroyed in March 1992. He was found hanging by his night shirt from a tree, a little scratched up, but otherwise fine.
The community has been able to watch Moody grow up. What would happen to the the amazing little boy who survived one of the worst storms to come through this area?
Tanner is finishing up his sophomore year, and like all teenagers, he's excited about the summer. He says he's just a normal kid.
Others say they believe there is a bigger purpose for his life, because he was miraculously saved.
"Yes, I feel pressure from that, but then I say why let it bother me? I'm going to be what I'm going to be," he said.
Most of the faculty and students are aware of Tanner's interesting childhood. Once during a soccer game, students were taken off the field during bad weather at the request of Tanner's mother.
Tanner's immediate goal is to find a part-time summer job, and to continue enjoying his very interesting life. He says he hasn't decided on a career, but he's thinking about going into journalism or teaching.
