With her first baby's due date still a week and a half away, Stephanie Gardner wasn't expecting a big Mother's Day. But Robert Samuel couldn't wait a whole year to give mom her first Mother's Day present. So at 8:31 a.m. he showed up, weighing in at 7 pounds and 7 ounces.
"To have him here on Mother's Day was very much a surprise to everyone. Everyone. Including him," said Stephanie Gardner.
As a day set aside just for mothers, Mother's Day has a special place in the heart of every woman that has given birth, but for Gardner it means even more since her very first Mother's Day was the day she became a mother.
"For him to be born on Mother's Day is very special in itself. It's just going to mean more stories. Better stories for him, and possibly blackmail (laughing)."
