Alabama Gov. Bob Riley says many non-tenured school employees across the state will get pink slips this week because of the Alabama Senate's failure to pass the state education budget.
Riley encouraged those employees Tuesday to wait a few weeks before they look for jobs elsewhere.
The governor said he hoped to call the legislature back into special session to reconsider the budget before June 1.
Alabama's other budget, the General Fund for non-education agencies, was approved by lawmakers before the regular session ended Monday night.
