Another community college has made the decision to cut its summer schedule because of high gas prices.

East Central Community College in Decatur will go to a four-day week this summer, to help commuter students who are having trouble affording gas.

Meridian Community College earlier announced the same change, and will continue it into the fall semester, as well, with a few exceptions.

"Our service area extends all the way to Louisvile, Carthage, past Forest to Morton. That's a pretty significant drive," said Sutphin. "And if you are traveling 100 miles a day, 5 days a week, that's 500 miles. Cut it back one day, that's 400 miles. "

East Central's summer school begins June 2. Some campuses, like East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Miss., went to four day weeks several years ago.
