A British couple was killed in the Pyrenees Mountains near the border of Spain and France when an avalanche swept down the mountain on which they were hiking late last week. Both were 53-years-old.
According to British newspaper the Telegraph, both were musicians from Manchester, England. Michael Hall was a violinist with Halle Orchestra. Dorothy Hall was a cellist and often played with the Halle Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic.
They had a 28-year-old daughter and a 25-year-old son who both lived in Manchester.
The Telegraph also says that the area where the couple was killed has some of the highest mountain peaks in the mountain range. Area law enforcement told the Telegraph that there are numerous accidents related to snow and ice during the summer when people think such accidents are unlikely.
