National Catholic Schools Week began Monday. Meridian's Saint Patrick Catholic School kicked it off by celebrating the community. The Saint Patrick choir visited the central fire station, the Meridian Police Department and City Hall to show their appreciation.
"We really just wanted them to know how much we appreciate them," said Jule Bordelon of St. Patrick's. "Like I said, today is celebrating the community. So we thought what better way than to let our policemen, firemen and city hall know how much we appreciate them?"
"It is exciting, heartwarming, to have them to call and want to come by just to thank the men for what they do every day," said Jimmy Hoffer of the Meridian Fire Department.
After the children thanked the firefighters, they got a chance to learn about firefighting equipment.
