Sheriff's Races Grow

A second candidate has qualified to run for Lauderdale County sheriff. Joseph Nabors of Meridian filed his qualifying papers as a Democrat on Monday, Jan. 27.

Incidentally, Nabors also registered to vote at the same time.

In early January, Sheriff Billy Sollie qualified as a Republican, to seek his third term in office.

Kemper County Sheriff Sam Tisdale is also seeking reelection to a second term, as a Democrat.

Other Democrats qualifying for the Kemper County post are part-time
Lauderdale County deputy, Johnny Harpole, and former prison warden and former MHP captain, Bill Jarvis.

Glen Williams, the mayor of Scooba, is running as an independent for
Kemper County sheriff.

The list is expected to grow before the Mar. 1 deadline for candidates to file papers.
