The fire occurred at Mississippi Laminators. Officials with the lumber company say they noticed the fire around 1 p.m.
"We just have a fire that started in the shop," says company manager Charles Clark. "There was no one out there. We saw the smoke and started trying to put it out."
"It was fully engulfed and there was evidently a lot of oil spilled around here in tanks," says Chief Clarence Smith with the Beaverdam Volunteer Fire Department.
Volunteer firefighters from Clarke and Wayne counties responded to the blaze. No one was hurt. An investigation is continuing into the cause.
Mississippi Laminators employs 35 people. Officials say it will take about a month to get the plant fully back up and running.
