Meridian police are investigating the discovery of two bodies in a residence at 1325 31st Avenue around midday Monday.
Both individuals, a husband and wife, were expected to report to work Monday, but did not, prompting a check on their welfare.
Lauderdale County medical examiner Clayton Cobler said the deaths did not appear to be due to natural causes.
"It's hard to tell. There was a lot of blood and other things so we don't know if they were stabbed, shot, or what happened," Cobler said.
"That's why they are being sent to Pearl, Miss., for an autopsy."
Cobler said the autopsy results should be complete later this week or early next week.
Police chief Benny Dubose said the deaths appeared to be the result of a domestic dispute.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
