In the past few weeks, seven house fires have devastated local families.
For each of those families, the Key Chapter of the American Red Cross has stepped in to help provide for basic emotional and physical needs.
"We send teddy bears home with the children. We make sure that they have a warm place and a warm bed and that they have clothing to put on the next day, so that they start their rebuilding process," said Cheri Barry, executive director of the key chapter.
The Key Chapter of the Red Cross serves a seven county area.
Red Cross disaster action teams are being formed in all seven counties so families will receive disaster assistance on site.
