Meridian, Miss. An estimated 1,000 bikers cruised the streets of Meridian Monday in the 2013 Run for the Wall.
The coast-to-coast motorcycle ride to raise awareness for veterans made its way through downtown.
After a wreath-laying ceremony at the Doughboy Monument, the bikers drove to the Lauderdale County Agri-Center for an overnight stay,.
The group will eventually end up in Washington D.C. at the Vietnam Memorial.
"They do this, to go to Washington, D.C. to lobby the recovery of all the missing in action, World War II to the present," said local coordinator Jim Swartz. "There are 78,000 still missing from World War II, eight thousand from Korea, about 1,600 from Vietnam."
The Meridian chapter raised money for the bikers this weekend. Meridian has been a stopping point for Run for the Wall for the past thirteen years.
