For the first time, Meridian held its annual Christmas parade on a Saturday night. Organizers say the parade turned out better than previous years.

"Not just a success, but a huge success for us this year. Getting a lot more people involved and just a huge turnout this year," said Al brown, chairman of Merry Meridian. "The most wonderful time of the year."

With warm temperatures, it was a great night for the annual event. Brown said he is thankful that the weather cooperated and that it did not rain.

While everyone may have had different favorites floats during the parade, all the spectators had a great time.

All entries to the parade were judged and prizes were awarded to those with the best float.

The overall winner: Tie between EMEPA and Mississippi Power

Commercial Division: 1. Carol Merrill Dance Academy, 2. Meridian Star, 3. Circle S Ranch

Non-Commercial Division: 1. Miss Cinderella Scholarship Pageant, 2. Toys for Tots, 3. Calvary Christian School and Pre-School.
