New digital video systems will be purchased for each of the department's cars, including the 15 new cars being purchased.
The new camera systems will replace the current out-of-date system.
"The video camera system we are going to be utilizing will be recording to a DVD. The officer can take that out of the patrol car and bring it into the courtroom and present evidence to the judges," said Sheriff Billy Sollie. "This is going to be a great tool for us to have."
The cost of the new cameras will be $93,000. They will be purchased funds seized by the Sheriff's Department.
