If you are a hurricane victim, time is running out to adjust the value on your property for 2006 tax purposes.
Lauderdale County tax assessor Jimmy Slay advises those who have devalued property to have your property tax rate adjusted before the end of the year.
"If you have had damage to your home or business and that damage will not be repaired before January 1, 2006, you need to come by the tax assessor's office immediately and fill out an appraisal review form," Slay said.
The county will then reappraise the property for a possible adjustment.
The value set January 1, 2006 will determine what your taxes are for the entire year.
