The Yazoo County jury returned the death sentence for Earnest Lee Hargon on Monday afternoon, after about five hours of deliberation at the courthouse in Yazoo City.
The 45-year-old Hargon was convicted Saturday in the murders of his cousin Michael Hargon, 27, Michael's wife, Rebecca, 29, and the couple's son, James Patrick, 4.
Hargon received the death penalty for the capital murders of Rebecca Hargon and her son. He was sentenced to life in prison for the slaying of Michael Hargon.
The killings occurred February 14, 2004, at the victims' home in Vaughan, Miss.
The three bodies were found in a shallow grave nearly 100 miles away about three weeks later.
