Twenty-seven-year-old Maurice Wallace of Normal, Ill., did not speak Friday morning during a brief hearing. He's charged in the death of Illinois State University student Olamide Adeyooye.
Court-appointed defense attorney Tracy Smith declined to comment after the hearing.
Wallace is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of concealing a homicide and one count of theft of a motor vehicle. He faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
Wallace knew Adeyooye and lived in the same block. She was last seen renting videos Oct. 13, 2005, near her off-campus apartment in Normal. Her body was found Oct. 21 in a Mississippi chicken house that had burned eight days earlier.
