The state College Board doesn't plan to have a public screening of finalists for the presidency of Mississippi State University.
Board members say top candidates are reluctant to get into the process if their names are going to be publicized.
The board says confidentiality is needed to help ensure the board finds the best-qualified person to lead the 16,000-student school and its 3,000 employees.
The board said it hopes to select Mississippi State's next president by the end of March to replace Dr. Charles Lee, who's retiring after serving four years.
