Get Fit... Don't Quit!

With an instructor known as the 'energizer bunny,' the kickboxing class at Jeff Anderson Fitness Center is filled with an hour of high impact exercise. However, before getting to that there was the warm-up, and then things really got going, especially for the newest additions to the 'Get Fit, Don't Quit' challenge.

On this day it was Suzanne and Kenya's first fitness class since joining the challenge earlier this month. Although the class was difficult at times, the ladies hung in there, as did a familiar face from WTOK, the one, the only, Lindsey Hall!

"I tell you, any of those guys out there that think they're working out, I challenge them to get in here, there's no way that they are pressing themselves like we do in here, it's tough," says WTOK sports director Lindsey Hall.

It’s a challenge indeed, but not one that the ladies could not handle with a little motivation.

"Don't quit! Don't quit!" says kickboxing instructor Jodie Burrell. "They did very good. I just might say that women may be able to work out a little bit better than men like Tyrone!"

"Jodie is SOOOO mean," says Lindsey.

"Nah. Kenya knows I'm sweet. She was looking really sad in class and I said, 'What's wrong Kenya?' She said, 'I'm tired!' So, I went over there and motivated her a little bit and she did really good," says Jodie.

Ohh, oh my gosh, I'm SOOOO tired," says Kenya, who wants to lose 30 pounds.

However, Kenya wasn't exactly alone.

"I was not keeping up," says Suzanne, who wants to lose 50 pounds. "I'm not ashamed to say I wasn't keeping up because I'm a beginner. I'm tired after the class, but I feel good."

All in all, by going at their own pace, the instructor says both Kenya and Suzanne did an outstanding job for their first time in the class. However, as for Tyrone, who's become known as 'Honey Bun' because of his love for the snack, was supposed to be there as well, but was not!

"He is something," says Jodie. "That Tyrone is a slacker! I tell you, we need to get on him because he's been to my class one time for the camera only and I'm sure these ladies will be back regularly."

The ladies probably will go back to the class as will Tyrone. After all, he did issue the ladies this challenge when they started.

"You can't handle the honey bun! So, all I'm going to tell 'em is to get ready!"

"Bring him on!" says Suzanne. "Tell Tyrone that the 'Little Debbie' cakes are ready to take on the 'Honey Bun,’" says Kenya.
