Marion is doubling the rate it charges customers for sewer service.
The current rate is $3.00 for each thousand gallons of treated sewage.
The new rate will be $6.10, effective Mar. 1.
Mayor Malcolm Threatt said the increase is a result of a Lauderdale County Chancery Court decision.
Marion was ordered to pay Meridian $2.43 per thousand gallons,
rather than the 68 cents they had been paying.
