An attempt at escape Monday night by a capital murder suspect never got any father than the loft area above the booking station at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.
Sheriff Billy Sollie said Jeffery Fairley, 18, had nowhere to go because that part of the jail is bricked all the way to the roof.
Fairley was charged Feb. 28 with two counts of capital murder in the deaths of James Tingle and Johnny Crump.
City and county law enforcement set up a perimeter around the jail as soon as the incident happened.
