Love's Kitchen is getting more than a helping hand this week. A whole group of volunteers literally crossed the border to get here.
Twenty two volunteers with the Mennonite Church in Canada are in Meridian on a mission of service.
The group had originally planned to go to the Mississippi Gulf Coast but decided to stay here when they saw the need in Meridian.
"We saw pictures on TV and we also had friends here in Mississippi," said Cheryl Wideman, a Mennonite Church Volunteer. "I had friends here in Mississippi, and when we saw the destruction, we knew we needed to do something."
Officials with Love's Kitchen say the organization now feeds twice as many people as it did before the hurricane.
