Riverwalk Casino and Hotel officials say the resort may open earlier than expected, becoming Vicksburg's fifth casino as early as October.
Magnolia Hills LLC, the parent company, won Mississippi Gaming Commission approval Thursday for a license.
That was the final major regulatory step and clears the way for the casino to open its doors ahead of schedule.
Construction on the $100 million project began in June 2007, with administrators aiming for a November opening.
