A fire in Lauderdale County Monday morning destroyed the dwelling on Happy Hollow Drive in Bailey. It happened just before noon.

When firefighters arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames. It took volunteer firefighters about an hour to get it under control. By that time, officials say the large home was a complete loss.

"Upon arrival, the fire was already coming through the roof," said fire coordinator Clarence Butler. "No one was at home. They told me they left about eight o'clock this morning."

Butler said there were no injuries related to the fire. He said it's too early to know what started it. The cause is being investigated.
