Keeping children safe is the goal of Project ChildSafe.
The national organization had representatives in Meridian today to bring awareness of gun safety. The group is also taking pledges from kids that they will never misuse guns and will always follow safety procedures.
"We're just out here at Wal-Mart promoting safe handling of firearms and proper storage of ammunition. We're giving out gun locks to anybody that needs them," said Bob Bailey of Project ChildSafe.
Project ChildSafe has been distributing gun locks free of charge since 2003. The locks will be available again tomorrow at the Super Wal-Mart between the hours of 12 and 6.
