Carol Swanner, an inmate at the Lauderdale County Jail, escaped Tuesday evening.
Around 9:30 p.m., Swanner was taken to a local hospital for possible complications to her pregnancy. While she was at the hospital, she was able to escape.
According to Ward Calhoun, Lauderdale County Sheriff's deputies and Meridian Police officers are using all available manpower to locate Swanner.
"We are asking for the public's help," Calhoun said. "We believe that she could still be in the area. She is pregnant and we hope that she's not going to be gone very far for her own safety."
Swanner is a 34-year-old white female. She is 5' 9" and weighs 230 lbs. She was being held on a probation violation and charges of credit card fraud.
