A family in Newton County is living a nightmare after the family pet attacked.
Fifteen-month-old Javelin Anderson was killed by the family's pit bull around 4 p.m. Thursday. Javelin was playing outside with her sister at the time and the pit bull was on a chain.
The family lives in the Connehata Community. An autopsy will be performed in Pearl.
Sheriff Jackie Knight says he believes the animal has been put down. His department is investigating the incident thoroughly.
