Barnett Faces New Charge

The son of a state lawmaker is in trouble with the law again, this time
for possible parole violations.

Hattiesburg police arrested Patrick L. Barnett, 46, the son of State Rep. Jim Barnett, on Jun. 20. The elder Barnett says his son is mentally unstable.

Patrick Barnett was on parole for aggravated assault in South Dakota when he was charged with arson here in May. He has also been indicted in Lauderdale County for allegedly making bomb threats to East Mississippi State Hospital, where he worked at the time, in November 2001.
