Lauderdale County supervisors have agreed to purchase a site from the Lockheed Martin Company on which to build a new 9-1-1 communications tower.
Attorney Rick Barry outlined the plan.
"It's 8.5 acres. The purchase price is $45,000," said Barry. "If we haven't started the tower within a year from the date of agreement, then there's an option here they can buy it back for the money that we paid for it."
The tower will be controlled by the 9-1-1 commission, but both the city and county plan to place their communications antennae on it.
