Robert Rohrlack is resigning effective June 13 as the Director of the Mississippi Development Authority.
Lee Ann Mayo, a spokeswoman for Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, said the governor will appoint Steve Hale to replace Rohrlack. Hale is now Rohrlack's chief of staff. Mayo said Hale will take over as soon as Rohrlack leaves.
Mayo said Rohrlack submitted his resignation to Musgrove on Friday, three days after the new Nissan manufacturing plant opened in Madison County.
A news release from the governor's office said Rohrlack is resigning because the job was too time consuming. Rohrlack is married and has three young sons.
Musgrove said he appreciated the energy and the leadership Rohrlack brought to the job. Hale, a former Mayor of Senatobia, has been MDA chief of staff since June 2002. Before moving to MDA, Hale oversaw economic development policies for Musgrove's staff.
