Carver Back To School

Monday was the first day of school for the second time this year for students at Carver Middle School. New campuses could prove to be confusing for some, but Carver students and faculty say they're ready to get started again.

"The kids are engaged and already learning like they didn't miss a beat," said Principal Vicky Hood at Kate Griffin Junior High, the new home to Carver's seventh graders.

But students did miss three days of school last week. Hood says that time was spent organizing for the possible two months that this sharing arrangement may be necessary. Sixth graders are using makeshift class rooms at the Boys and Girls Club.

"The hardest thing for them is finding their rooms," said Marty Everett,
Carver's assistant principal.

Students were given a new revised copy of their schedule and learned the bus schedule.

Carver seventh graders now attend seven classes a day. The seventh is a homeroom class where they practice writing skills. Through all of the changes administrators say they are making this work.
