The longtime leader of the District 6 office of the Mississippi Department of Health retired from the job this week.
Dr. Margaret Morrison is retired, but as the new chairman of the Board of Hope Village for Children, she'll remain active.
Morrison said it takes a lot of work to meet the needs of Hope Village, and she expects goods things ahead.
"So there's just so much we want to do for the Children at Hope Village," said Dr. Morrison. "And we hope to be able to expand these services over the next year and a half or maybe even sooner."
One of the projects Morrison is working on is the move of Hope Village's Once and Again Shop to a new facility at the corner of Front Street and 26th Avenue.
The resale shop generates funds, more than $25,000 so far, that go directly to Hope Village.
