The rural health explorers program at Meridian Community College hosted sixteen high school students this summer.
The teens participated in the program, designed to provide information about the health industry.
Coordinator Irven Skinner said he hopes that this experience will entice some of the students to go into medical careers and stay in Mississippi.
"The rural health program is designed to provide opportunities for students who are primarily in their junior year of high school an opportunity to explore the various medical career fields that may be open for them."
"I learned a lot about the health field, and it helped me really realize what I wanted to be. I had an idea, but it really set it in."
The students received five semester hours of college credit for participating in the program.
