Meridian Community College is hosting a continuing education workshop this week for thirty high school Spanish teachers from across the state.
Dr. John Gutierrez from the University of Mississippi's Croft Language Institute is leading the free seminars. He said the new ideas that teachers will take back to their classrooms is intended to give them a fresh approach to teaching.
"What we're trying to do is create a model that will eventually be a K-12 model that we'll be able to export to different parts of Mississippi with methodology, materials, etc.," said Gutierrez.
The teachers participating in the week-long workshop will receive three continuing education credits.
