Mississippi Transportation Commission chairman, Dick Hall, and Keep Mississippi Beautiful executive director, Barbara Dorr, kicked off the Kemper County Trash Bash Friday. It was held at the Courthouse Square in downtown Dekalb.
"Crime follows litter," said Dick Hall, Transportation Commissioner for the central district of Mississippi. "It is all tied together and the transportation commission is doing all it can."
"It's like a crusade. We have to clean up Mississippi," said Barbara Dorr, executive director of the Mississippi chapter of Keep America Beautiful. "And make our citizens know the link between crime and litter."
Kemper County's Trash Bash ends Saturday. All county roads, city streets and state highways are focus areas for picking up litter.
