Authorities say a house fire that killed five unattended children Oct. 6 in Yazoo City was started by a lighter.
Yazoo City fire marshal James Jackson said Monday that he made his determination after interviewing Alfred Bell, Jr., 9, the only child to survive the blaze.
Authorities say the home was destroyed while the children's mothers, Clara Bell and Eugenia Bell, were at a nightclub.
Both mothers are free on bond, charged with child neglect and five counts of manslaughter.
