One of the job fields that is still in demand during this difficult economic time is health care.

Meridian Community College held a job fair for those training in health-related fields Thursday.

Twenty-five vendors from all over the state, including Meridian's hospitals, participated.

MCC officials say, despite this economic downturn, people are still needed in fields like nursing and X-ray technology.

"If you're looking for a career to go into, with stability during times of economic downturn, you know, you can't go wrong with nursing and health education fields," said MCC's Dr. Richie McAlister.

The Mississippi Office of Nursing Workforce reports that Mississippi has about eight percent fewer nurses than it needs right now.
