Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie is doing fine after he crashed while riding a bicycle. He injured his right arm, which is now in a sling.
Sollie and his wife were training for an upcoming competition.
"My front tire touched her back tire and when that happens the guy in the back always loses. Ended up in the emergency room at Rush Hospital. Got a separated collarbone from the shoulder. We'll determine Friday whether to have surgery or let it heal on its own."
Sollie said he is now the poster boy for helmets. His arm cracked on impact with the pavement, but his head was uninjured, because of his helmet.
