Newton County High School is part of a national study to find how to better prepare students for college.
It's one of only ten schools selected, based on its high scores on the English portion of the ACT college entrance exam.
The goal is to determine what elements of high school courses prepare students for college-level courses.
In 2001 and 2002, more than 64 percent of Newton County High's graduates who took the ACT earned scores at or above the ''college-ready'' benchmark.
