Candidates stepped up to the podium to lay out their platforms and deliver their messages to the voting public at a political forum hosted
by VFW Post 79.
"For people to better understand their candidates and to get to meet them, come out and talk to them," said Chuck McElroy. "Sometimes it's better cause we have so many people running it's better to see them face to face and get their views on things and you get a better understanding of who you're gonna vote for."
"This political deal is something we look forward to and we're trying to help people and it helps us," said Johnnie Cook.
Veterans have many of the same concerns that the average citizen has during this election season. Education, economic development, but especially prescription drug costs and healthcare are major concerns for veterans as well.
"The biggest issue of all is to get the veteran the healthcare that he deserves, to get him in there without having to wait six months for an appointment," McElroy said.
