Meridian Community College hosted open house at a new home that students in the home building trades program built this year.
The new house at 6904 10th Avenue is the eighth home MCC students have built in the last nine years.
Home building trades instructor Howie Schiedel said the hands-on experience that students get makes the program very strong.
"So the students not only get the classroom part, where they can learn how to span tables or how much concrete you need for a footing, but then they get to come out and put it into practice," said Schiedel.
In all, around 90 students from construction trade, industrial maintenance, horticulture, drafting and electronics worked on the house, and it is on the market for sale.
