Police Find Evidence of Dog Fighting

Meridian police continue the investigation into illegal dog-fighting. The probe is backed up by a videotape seized at the scene.

MPD spokesman Dean Harper stressed that people involved in this type of activity face very serious charges.

"Any participation in dog fighting, whether it's watching the fight, making the dogs fight each other, training a dog, transporting a dog, anything to do with a dog fight is a three year felony," said Harper.
"This is a very serious crime. Most people don't think it is, but they can do some serious jail time over it."

Involvement that could lead to criminal charges includes betting on bog fights.

Police ask for information from the public about who might be involved in this type of activity.
