State treasurer candidate Tate Reeves campaigned in East Central Mississippi Friday.
Reeves covered ground in Scott and Newton Counties before coming to Meridian.
"We're just trying to take our message of the importance of electing a businessman, not a bureaucrat, to the treasurer's office, to every potential voter all across our great state," Reeves said.
Reeves said he wants to base budget projections on conservative estimates, invest in Mississippi institutions first, expand participation in pre-paid tuition programs, and guard against legislation that would hurt Mississippi's credit rating.

Reeves faces democratic nominee, Gary Anderson and Reform Party candidate Lee Dilworth in the general election Nov. 4.
