The town of Bay Springs has been awarded two grants to assist with upgrading water treatment at its industrial park.
According to Mayor J.E. Smith, the project is crucial for Peco Foods to continue its operations there.
"Without Peco here, it would devastate our town. They are our biggest employer. All or most of their people live here, shop here, buy groceries here. It would've hurt not only the local merchants but our sales tax base tremendously."
The $900,000 in grants came through the Mississippi Development Authority.
