Officials say Macon Treating Company is a $6 million investment that has brought thirty jobs to Noxubee County.
The Noxubee Alliance and its parent,Thomasson Company, celebrated with a ribbon cutting and grand opening Tuesday.
Thomasson Company is a leading supplier of poles and wood products to utility companies and other industries.
“The opening of this facility ensures the longevity and future of Thomasson,” said Pat Thomasson, CEO of Thomasson Company. “We are blessed with an outstanding network of suppliers, but having our own treatment capability supplements that alliance and makes certain of our ability to meet future demand.”
Macon Treating Company offers CCA and CCA-ET treatment options for Southern Yellow Pine processed at East Mississippi Pole Company, a sister company of Thomasson, that sits on 26 acres next door to the new plant.
“Thomasson Company is an outstanding corporate neighbor,” Brian Wilson, executive director of the Noxubee Alliance. “East Mississippi Pole Company has been an integral part of the Macon community since 2005, and we welcome the addition of Macon Treating Company. These facilities have already brought 26 new jobs to the area, with the potential for many more as business grows.”

CCA is a terrible product. Banned by the EPA for residential use, CCA leaches arsenic into the enivironment and is known causes cancer. It is a shame that the company does not choose a less harmful product in its processes. There are several to choose from.
