The two major-party candidates for governor say they will debate four times before the Nov. 4 general election. Details will be worked out later.
The campaigns of Democratic Gov. Ronnie Musgrove and Republican challenger Haley Barbour issued identical news releases Tuesday, saying the debates will take place between Sept. 21 and Oct. 21 in Jackson, on the Gulf Coast, at Mississippi State University in Starkville and at Delta State University in Cleveland.
Specific dates and sites were not announced for each place, but the campaigns said the debates would be held in large venues and would be open to the public.
The campaigns said all other public appearances by Barbour and Musgrove would be individual speeches, not debates.
