A federal judge has ruled the federal trade commission overstepped its bounds by creating the national "Do Not Call" list. It was aimed at blocking unwanted telemarketing calls.
Nielsen Cochran, Mississippi's central district public service commissioner, told NewsCenter 11 what this means for the Mississippi "Do Not Call" list.
"The federal ruling in Oklahoma City is not going to have an affect for Mississippi," said Cochran. "October 1, we will enforce the Mississippi law."
However, Mississippi consumers who only signed up for the national "Do Not Call" list will be affected by the federal court decision.
