The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced a traffic switch as part of an intersection improvement project in Clarke County, north of Quitman.

Officials say the project that is already underway is realigning Highway 513 and Highway 145 to improve the efficiency of the intersection.

Traffic will be switched Thursday, June 25, from the existing Highway 513 onto the newly constructed Highway 513 at Highway 145.

"We are in the last weeks of work on this project," said MDOT project engineer Scott White. "The project has taken what was called a 'flying Y' type intersection and corrected the design so that motorists can navigate the highway intersection more efficiently."

The $1.3 million project is scheduled to be completed this summer.
